For the past 30+ years, Dave Smith’s training ground has been the road courses of Sears Point Raceway, Laguna Seca, Daytona, Circuit of the Americas (COTA), and Thunderhill Raceway Park, and more. His motorsports career has encompassed racing, coaching, working as a CART Indy Lights Chief Mechanic, Hollywood stunt driver, and Indy 500 Lead Mechanic, and over the wall tire change.
Dave has taught at the Jim Russell Racing School, the Audi Sportscar Driving Experience, and the Sears Point Racing Experience. As a driver and coach, Dave has worked with superstar motorsports drivers including Greg Pickett, Joey Logano, Scott Pruett, J.J. Yeley, and Boris Said.
Dave’s diverse road course experience as a competitor includes Skip Barber Saab Pro Series, Skip Barber West Coast Formula Ford, NASCAR K&N Pro Series, American Le Mans Series, Ferrari Challenge North America, Patron Porsche GT3 Cup, Toyota Atlantic, Daytona Prototype, Jaguar Simola Hillclimb, and six times in the 25 Hours of Thunderhill.
